5th Dan Master Joe Brown was an ex- British serviceman for HM forces . He has an extensive career as a professional bodyguard for VIP's such as Cynthia Rothrock ( Hollywood Martial Arts Superstar) , World Champion Karate and Kickboxer Bill "Superfoot " Wallace and Andra Franett ( World Karate Champion ). Joe was the Founder and Chief Instructor of British Taekwondo South which was established in 1981. He has taught several national and international champions amongst them are juniors Tom Peasey, Aaron Cook, Peter Robers and his son Gareth Brown for the Seniors to name a few. Master Joe is one of the most experienced coaches in Great Britain having coached at World Olympic selection/qualifying for the 2000 Olympic Games in Croatia , Women's Europa Cup team which won bronze in the team event. He also practically handled all Junior and Senior World Championships since 1995 for BTCB and UK Sport Taekwondo.
Joe was the BTF National Team Coach 1985-1994, BTCB Principal National Team Coach from 1994-2002,Regional National Team Coach 2002-2006 and the Great Britain Combined Armed Forces Taekwondo Coach 2005-2008 ( temporarily disbanded because of the overwhelming operational tempo) .

Gareth has competed at the highest level in Olympic taekwondo competition for many years, from the Junior and senior European Championships 1997 and 2000, to the World Cup 2000 and senior World Championships 2001 and 2003.
He was part of the Olympic squad that went to Mexico for an international training camp and competition in Mexico city and Mazatlan, 2002. He also trained in a camp at BOA Olympic training Facility in Austria 2003 and UK national team camp in Pamplona(spain) and Geleen(holland).
Gareth has competed all over the world from, South Korea, across Europe and the U.S to Mexico. As well as winning the title '' British Champion '' 3 times, he also won international medals in, Germany, France, Holland, Scotland, Denmark and the Canary Islands!!
Gareth says, '' I love Taekwondo, i loved competing and representing my country. Now i love passing on what i have learnt from the high class coach's i trained under across the globe, to the Athletes i teach and coach now.

He started Taekwondo in 1987 whilst working overseas in the Cayman Islands. In 1989 he joined BTS and as instructor of the organization , he has been running and assisting clubs in and around Southampton area since 1991. A former Police Officer , Nik now lectures Design and Advertising at Southampton Solent University where he also runs an Adult Taekwondo class every Tuesday evenings.

Paul started in 1999 under Paul Rhymes and Master Brown and is now the latest BTS instructor. He will now handle the club at St. Luke's Community Center in Portsmouth.
